The Hakko FX-888 is a solid, but inexpensive temperature-controlled soldering station that we use for everything. The T18D32P (3.2mm) tip provides plenty of heat to solder connectors and wire as large as 10AWG. We use the T18-BR02 tip to solder fine surface-mount components. The temperature control allows us to use the minimum temperature required for the solder we’re using and reduces damage to boards and components.
